When there’s always a reason to smile, keeping your pearly whites extra sparkly is a top priority. Spring Cleaning takes on a whole new meaning to help your smile shine its brightest! That’s why the Dolls partnered with Sugar Fix Dental Loft to put together a Spring Wellness Routine.
Taking care of our minds and bodies every day will ultimately lead us to become the best version of ourselves. That means visiting the doctor for regular check ups, practicing yoga, going to the dentist – and creating a custom wellness routine that helps YOU live a balanced, beautiful life.
Each time we visit this dentist, the fabulous staff helps us radiate our positivity through our smile. The atmosphere is cool and modern with a touch of whimsy, the technology is top-of-the-line; and the staff is friendly, fun and knowledgable. We each received teeth cleanings from the fabulous Lauren Woodel, RDH. Here’s what we learned in the process…
It’s no secret that we ARE water! We NEED water! Drink it! Drink it all the time! This is our favorite wellness tip no matter the season. Water clears your skin, it flushes your system – and it protects your teeth. Hydration is very important to the teeth – what they are made of and how radiant they look. Our mouths get dry over night because the salivation systems slows down to allow the body to focus on other organs. That means that water should be the first thing in your mouth each morning… not coffee.
We’ve switched up our morning routine to protect our teeth with natural whitening remedies. After waking up, the first thing the Dolls reach for is a purified glass of water. Before we get our caffeine fix, we’ve started to coat our teeth with coconut oil to shield them from soaking in any dark pigments. You can also drink dark liquids through a straw (but please don’t use plastic… here’s why). Next up, take a multi vitamin. Yes, this affects your tooth and gum health.
Throughout the day, we keep plenty of purified water or alkaline water on hand – along with a portable toothbrush and floss. Our Spring wellness challenge is to brush and floss after every meal and our hope is to make this a habit!
This is a beautiful life and there are so many reasons to smile. Make this a part of your wellness routine! Each time you smile, your brain does a happy dance. Smiling activates neural messaging that benefits health and happiness. … The feel good neurotransmitters dopamine, endorphins and serotonin are all released helping you to sparkle and shine from the inside out.
When it’s time to wind down your day, there’s another opportunity to love your teeth. Do not go to bed without brushing. This will cook everything that is still living in your mouth all night long and severely increase morning breath, cavities and gum disease.
If you find that grinding your teeth is a problem, get a custom fitted night guard from your dentist to preserve the natural structure of the teeth and ensure they can last far into adulthood. Get regular massages and work with your chiropractor to manage stress and help the muscle tension through the head and shoulder region – this pulls all the way up to the TMJ muscles of the face.
Oral health can and does affect overall health. Including aching joints, heart disease, Alzheimer’s. The American Dental Association recommends getting a teeth cleaning every 6 months, but the team at Sugar Fix Dental Loft recommends every 3 to 6 months. It only takes 3 months for the hard tartar to form on your teeth, this is when inflammation starts and can spread systemically.
