Gratitude is the reason for the season, and Thanksgiving is a special opportunity to celebrate with family and friends. Whether you are dining at home or at the Four Seasons Chicago, this feast brings on the onset of warm and fuzzy feelings before the holidays. There is something we can all be thankful for this year – whether it is a best friend, significant other, a loving family or a warm and cosy meal. Here are five mindful actions to practice this Thanksgiving.
FIND YOUR MANTRA
The practice of mindfulness is quite magical and there’s nothing like a great yoga class or meditation to help appreciate the reasons Dolls everywhere are #blessed. When you show thanks and appreciation for the little things – you gain big perspective. Cultivating gratitude can help calm your nerves, open your mind and fill your heart with self-acceptance and love.
The first step in a meditation practice is to set an intention – something you aspire to feel or achieve. Turn your focus inward and focus on a single word such as “gratitude” or an affirmation such as “I am abundant” “I am full of gratitude”.
HELP OTHERS
We encourage Dolls everywhere to give back this holiday season. Find a charity that means something to you. Look to better the future. Give back monetarily – or by offering your time, your energy, your love. You can participate in a food drive, turkey trot, or find a cause that inspires you.
SEND A NOTE
A handwritten note is a lost art in our digital world, but this practice is a meaningful one. Put pen to paper and tell a friend or a loved one how they have positively impacted your life. Gratitude is contagious!
