There is something incredibly special about sharing a meal. Whether Caitlin and Dani are having a fun girls night or a double date night with their men – the experience of sitting down together, sipping their favorite drinks and devouring delicious food is just what the best friend duo loves.

We got to thinking… What is it about eating with one another that brings us closer together? There is so much joy in food. Over the years, it has helped us to make friends, to be courted by lovers, to celebrate monumental events and to help us count our blessings along the way.
As children we would have tea parties… and practice entertaining. who remembers their easy bake oven?
In our lifetime, we have learned to value experiences above all else. You can (literally) eat your way through Chicago. It’s one of our favorite past times… and we’re looking forward to the days and nights that we can share these moments again. From the décor to the company, conversation and tastes. All of our senses are activated. Somehow the wine tastes better, and maybe we indulge a little more.
We both believe that eating what you love can and should be a part of your healthy nutrition plan. Food can be comforting – in the winter months, we may indulge and treat ourselves. That seems to be happening right now with the Stay Home orders. We joke about the quarantine 15, but many of us are simply indulging in the small way we can now. So much care and love goes into making something from scratch. Right now, theres a whole trend with sourdough bread… and we see why.
Sharing a meal gives us a sense of community – thats why Doll Dates with our besties always start with a long, delicious meal and plenty of drinks, laughs and silliness. We adore all of our close friends and shared experiences is one of things we value most. So many of our great adventures together start at a restaurant… or hosting dinner at home, or even in an airbnb. The story of our first Friendsgiving still makes us LOL.
Going out to dinner with your love interest is beyond special. Think of all the things we do with our mouth – taste, consumer, speak and kiss. And on top of that, all our senses are activated when we dine together. When Caitlin thinks back to her first date with her husband – and when Dani thinks of her first date with her boyfriend – they both involve food!
For the first time in history, no one has eaten out in months. There have been no romantic dinners and no avocado toast brunches at restaurants – and there certainly hasn’t been any wild nights out dancing at bars. But that’s slowly starting to change as states are starting to reopen their economies after the COVID-19 pandemic stay-at-home orders.

People are saying that eating out will never be the same…. How does that make you feel?
