Caitlin and Danielle adore their city and are proud to call Chicago their hOMe. As you venture from neighborhood to neighborhood, there are countless people, places and activities that will flip your perspective. The Dolls recently discovered a new Chicago yoga studio to hone their practice and stay heavily meditated – Mirepoix Mercantile.
Caitlin and Danielle reside in a lovely Chicago neighborhood known as West Town, ahem, the best town. This part of Chicago has a very diverse mix of people and a very special vibe.
This vibrancy has been amplified by the opening of Mirepoix Mercantile at 1414 N. Ashland Ave. Our beloved neighborhood needed a place to take your universal connection to the next level and apply it to your life through the movement of your body, mind and soul in unison. The studio mantra encourages moving to strengthen, not burn; meditating to process, not clear; and nourishing to fuel, not lose. We move through life minimally and mindfully.
Jill Monterotti started and owns the beautiful studio and has put her heart and soul into the space. She is creating a studio that allows guys and Dolls to relax from the inside out through meditation, yoga, lifestyle workshops and health conscious products. This space truly encompasses the type of energy you want to feel while creating inner peace, joy and relaxation.
Mirepoix Mercantile has a vision to: 1) Identify the essential 2) Eliminate the rest. Mirepoix is defined as, noun: [mir-pwah] : a sautéed mixture of diced vegetables, such as carrots, celery, and onions, used especially as a base for soups, stews, and sauces. Just like the base to many dishes in French cooking, it’s the simplest things, people, and places that create the base for a healthful life.
When applying the definition of Mirepoix to the Wellness Studio it’s interpreted into a three-part balance of movement, meditation, and nourishment. By incorporating each into our every day life, we can begin to build bodies and minds we can listen to and circumstances we can thrive in. The studio has a philosophy that believes in moving to strengthen, not burn; meditating to process, not clear; and nourishing to fuel, not lose. These philosophies together will help you to move through life minimally and mindfully.
Upon visiting the studio and working with an array of instructors, we have a true connection to this studio. A smaller studio has some of the best benefits. Just one of them is personalization. Each yoga guide works to tailor specific asanas to the practitioners of the studio. More advanced students may play with shoulder stands and handstands while a beginner may master their first Sun Salutation. Meditation on the weekends has become a Dollhouse treat. There is nothing more therapeutic than listening to your body and starting each week with purpose.
This wellness studio for the mindfully minimal + modern does not stop at yoga and meditation. The community of yogis is so lovely – you’ll feel right at home. We have found ourselves chatting with fellow instructors, guides and practitioners about life events, homeopathic healing and more. You can also shop the best organic goods at this studio or even online here. These essential items are good for you and good for your home. We totally trust the vegan studio owner, Jill, to put forth her best healthy lifestyle recommendations. You can even follow @mirepoixstudio on Instagram (if you aren’t already) to see all of Jill’s vegan adventures.
We’d love to take a class with you soon! For more information about class schedules and workshops head over to their website.
