In true Doll fashion, Cait and Dani always cheer each other on for each and every magical life event. This past weekend was no exception. Cait gave her blessing to Dani’s personal Disney Prince as he presented yet another surprise of a lifetime and they decided on forever. Keep reading for all the details of Dani’s perfect proposal and classic ring choice.
Hi Dolls, Dani here! Thank you so much for all the loving notes about our engagement. We appreciate you for following our journey over the years and always being so kind and supportive. Now it’s story time… and YES, I’m going to show you the rings.
If you told me three years ago that a Mini Golf Date would’ve led down this WILD road – two puppies, three homes, a baby and a fiancé, I would’ve called your bluff.
My relationship with MG has always felt like a bigger force was in play. No matter how many times (four to be exact) I’d try to call it quits, something always drew us back to each other. We’ve stayed together through all the lessons and blessings life has tossed our way. We have now decided that we want to be married and officially commit our lives to one another.
Did I know we were getting engaged this year?? YES. Did I know when it was happening? NO.
A few months back, Mini Golf asked if I wanted to go engagement ring shopping. This was a new shopping adventure neither of us had previously experienced.
But to be honest… ring shopping actually stirred up some anxiety because while I love having MG as my partner, I am actually not a big fan of rings. It’s just not my thing. So the challenge here would be finding rings I’d actually love to wear.
MG rose to the challenge back in May when he uttered the four words every Doll loves to hear… Let’s go to Chanel. As we entered my favorite fashion boutique, we were greeted with the usual red carpet. Our dedicated personal shopper led us over to the rings case where we spotted the Coco Crush Collection and before we knew it, we were celebrating our ring choice with a champagne toast. It was love at first sight.
When MG proposed, he chose four simple words again. “Will you marry me?” My answer was instant and simple, while I held our daughter in my arms. “Yes!”
We had spent the gorgeous July weekend at our condo in downtown Chicago. The night of our proposal (July 22nd) it actually downpoured, but the skies cleared just in time. I usually search for rainbows after a storm, but my fate for the night was an epic proposal underneath fireworks on Lake Michigan.
Let’s just say the grand finale of the fireworks show really was the grand finale. I was taken aback in the best possible way when I was told we were taking a quick photo and MG got down on one knee.
The next day we planned to have lunch at Whispers on Oak Street Beach. When we walked up to the beach spot Mutual Love by Shallou (a significant song to us) was playing throughout the restaurant. Hmmm, interesting. An intimate, surprise engagement party just for us was happening right before my eyes and we had the good fortune of celebrating with a few of the people who mean the most to me. Thank the universe for my Best Doll Caitlin – of course she had my wardrobe dialed in for a bride-to-be outfit change when we arrived.
What I’ve learned is that there is no such thing as perfect, but you can create whatever you want in life – so do it. You must always have an open heart and keep working for what you want and feeling grateful for all you already have. I trust the universe and I trust our journey. Can’t wait to share our wedding with you… We are doing it our way.
We are talking about something intimate at a Courthouse (soon), followed by our second child, followed by a destination wedding in 2025!
