When it comes to overall health, balance is what really matters. A balance between work + home, kale + pizza, workouts + relaxation, best friends + romantic partners, getting glam + staying in, Eastern + Western medicine… Get the drift? Let’s just call it LIFE BALANCE. Although Caitlin + Dani have most health bases covered, sometimes energy gets trapped and needs a little ZAP to get flowing. We have a great recommendation for holistic healing with this Chicago acupuncture practice. Life lesson: It’s always OK to enlist help when you need it!
It’s common for your energy to feel stagnant at times, to have a bit of neck or back pain (many of us sit hunched over a computer for hours on end), or even experience migraines. Dani recently found out about a gluten allergy, which means her intense love of sandwiches, burritos and pasta was actually the cause of a lot pain. With all that being said, the Dolls met Amy Wolf, the founder and owner of Herb + Ōhm around this same time – Ask the universe and you shall receive. Amy is a true healer and she has the education and knowledge to back it up. The Dolls have met a lot of healers but none with a touch like hers. If you live in Chicago or are planning a trip, she is worth the visit.
The acupuncture journey began…
Even though we may be very in tune with our bodies, you can feel the moment acupuncture needles enter certain areas on the body – the energy literally explodes inside. Amy refers to this energy feeling as Qi. Energy can get stopped up similar to a traffic jam, and when the needle is applied to certain pressure points, it helps move the traffic along creating more space for the energy to flow inside the body. In finding what works best for your own body there is Eastern Acu : Energy points on the body that stimulate energy in other areas of the body, ex: Points on your hand are directly correlated to your heart. Western Acu: Simply applying needles to the source of the pain– The dolls bodies and souls respond best to Eastern acupuncture methods.
If you have a fear of needles, don’t worry your pretty face! There are alternatives like moxibustion or Chinese cupping therapy.
All of these methods are in the video below:
After 6 treatments D feels amazing! Here’s her story: The headaches have subsided, range of motion in my neck is at it’s best, my gluten brain fog is gone and overall I’d use the word STRONG to describe how I’m feeling. Even if you are fearful of needles, we encourage you to try this at least one-time, it may actually help you overcome that fear, it really is painless. Your body starts to crave its benefits!
Right after having acupuncture it’s normal to be extra tired, like in bed by 8pm. The upside is that when you wake the next day, you can literally accomplish anything with full energy and a strong life force. Remember to drink a lot of water to keep things flowing!
Acupuncture is really complimenting our healthy lifestyle routine. For more info about Amy Wolf –Herb + Ōhm – check out her Facebook Page.
