Garlic Challenge

April 3, 2020

The world is changing every single day… but rather than speeding up, everything is slowing down. Caitlin and Danielle have been doing their part to Social Distance in these unprecedented times. One of the hardest things for the Dolls to do is to stay away from each other! Even harder is the feeling of helplessness. Caitlin and Danielle are yearning to help! That’s why the Dolls came up with the #GarlicChallenge to give back to the CDC Foundation.

We chose to donate to the CDC Foundation because they are helping the Superheroes of our world right now – everyone on the front lines fighting COVID-19. Donations to the CDC Foundation is funding medical supplies, increasing lab capacity, deploying emergency staffing to U.S. public health agencies, providing support to vulnerable communities, addressing health communication needs, boosting clinical research to improve health outcomes, building capacity and infrastructure for global response efforts, and much more.

You can listen to the Doll Talk Podcast about Pandemic Pals by clicking here. Or Search “Doll Talk” in itunes, google podcasts or on spotify!

Why Garlic? Because what else will encourage people to stand 6 feet away from you?! Haha, in all seriousness, garlic has many health benefits including having antiviral properties. Our ultimate goal is to raise funds for the CDC, so we wanted the challenge to be difficult! If you’re not up to chow down on some pungent garlic, you can do the even better thing and donate! We must say, it’s quite hilarious to see our best friends near and far chew raw garlic! The reactions are utterly priceless.

SO here’s how it works:

  1. Post an Instagram story of you eating a clove of raw garlic OR donate $5 to the CDC Foundation Garlic Challenge Team
  2. Tag 5 friends in the post and ask them to join the Social Media challenge OR donate $5 to the CDC Foundation Garlic Challenge Team
  3. Tag @onceuponadollhouse on Instagram for a story feature

Caitlin and Danielle are both wearing Camo Surplus Jackets and Ollie Super High Rise Camo Shorts from Dear John Denim.

Will you join the #GarlicChallenge?

This is a fun challenge! Although I love garlic, I also hope that people who can eat garlic will also choose to donate. How cool is that?

A challenge for a cause is better than the senseless challenges that I see getting viral on social media. Way to go!

This is an interesting way to make social distancing work for you! Alas, I’m camera-shy. I would never post an Instagram story of me doing anything, let alone chowing down on garlic.

I’ll be honest, I absolutely love garlic and do not ever think there is such a thing as “too much garlic” but I’m sure you’re right that it does encourage people to stay 6 feet away! 🙂 Great idea for a challenge and a great way to raise money right now!

I actually love garlic, but probably not by the clove alone! It is for a good reason, though. And I would much rather do this than eat a live bug or something!

A way to include people during social distance and raising money for a foundation is a plus. Garlic. That should be fun🤗
