When you do what you love, you will never have to call it “work”. It is every Dolls’ duty to find your passion, discover the positive effect it has to those around you and follow your dreams. That being said… It is with gratitude and excitement that we announce Once Upon a Dollhouse Yoga! These Dolls will be teaching yoga together for special events and occasions.
In this life, there are inevitable highs and lows. Coming to our yoga mats has remained a constant for us both collectively for 20+ years. Through asanas (postures), pranayama (control of breath), meditation and vinyasa, we have been able to navigate this beautiful life. We both received our 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification from Yoga Loft in Chicago. Finding what you love and sharing it with the world leads to ananda, the sanskrit word for bliss.
The practice of yoga has been so rewarding and only further propelled us on this path to sharing our practice. Here are five tips to keep in mind with your yoga routine on and off the mat.
- Stay Balanced: All things in moderation help us keep healthy minds and bodies. While we may have a green pressed juice and vegan meal one day, we may treat ourselves with pizza and ice cream the next. We may run and do yoga one day and veg and watch a Netflix the next. Keeping balance in all aspects of life allows us to take things one day at a time, keep up with our workout routines, and stay away from binging on a meal.
- Be Present: Try to stay present in each breath you take, each movement you make, and each muscle you are training. This translates on and off the mat. By noticing every action your body takes, the beauty of the world around you becomes clear.
- Have Fun: The life we live is magical… have fun with it! Whether your fitness routine of choice is yoga or something else, make sure it’s something that you genuinely enjoy. Life is too precious to not live to the fullest.
- Reverse your Routine: Try something new! Leave your comfort zone. Challenge yourself. You can try a new practice, or even a new posture. Always remember – anything is possible.
- Feel Gratitude: Last but not least – this may be the most important mantra of all. Through all the highs and lows of life, showing gratitude must remain a constant. Each day when you wake up, think of one thing you are grateful for. Keep that thought with you throughout the day and express your gratitude in whatever way you feel. It can be as simple as a text, a phone call or something bigger!
We love to try out different forms of yoga – everything from Ashtanga to Bikram to Power Yoga to Restorative Yin and a lovely Vinyasa Flow. This helps us stay experienced in our own practice and also helps change up our routine. Have you tried out a new class lately? Let us know if you have any new favorites in the city!
We hope to practice yoga with you soon!
I tried Yoga about 3 years ago–I need to get back to it!

Congratulations! Good luck on this new venture for you two!
Thank you, thank you! We could not be more excited for this opportunity ?
Congratulations! This is so exciting. I love yoga and it looks like you guys would be great instructors!
Thanks, Whitney! We’re so grateful. ?
This is so exciting! I’ve been doing yoga on and off for a few years and am still at a beginner level, but I love it! I wish I was in Chicago so I could come take a class!

The Blush Blonde
Hi Kristin, That’s amazing! To us, it doesn’t really matter what level you are at. As long as you come to your mat and take away the benefits you are golden ✨✨✨
This is so cool! I wish I lived nearby so I could participate!
Xoxo,
Amanda

Thanks, Amanda! We’re thinking of putting together some yoga sequences for YouTube. Stay tuned! ?☯☮?
Ah two of my favorite things, yoga and street art together in one place!
Thank you, Shane! ☯
This sounds so great! I’ve always wanted to try yoga!

Thank you, Candice! Staying present is so important with every factor of life. You know what’s up! ?
I have been dying to try yoga! This is such a great post, your pictures are so fun!
I have never had the opportunity to try Yoga! I just watched a Sesame Street with my daughter not too long ago about where they did Yoga. It was all about being balanced, so after reading this post, I can tell it’s key 🙂 Congrats on teaching it!
Such cute photos! I used to do yoga a few years ago, but these days I consider walking to and from my office to the garage as exercise. LOL Good luck with your new adventure!
Stunning pictures! I love vinyasa yoga!

I’ve never been very good at yoga, but it’s always interesting to try. It’s something that I’d like to get better at though. One of our local breweries just started a program called “Brewoga” where you take a yoga class and then enjoy some beer after.
Firstly, I NEED to go to Chicago now to pose in front of that sign! Ahh too cute. Thank you for sharing such an inspiring post. I just added this to my bucket list!
Thanks, DOll! Yes – we love this sign. They are actually all over the country. Search @GreetingsTour on Instagram!
I like this idea and reading your post I could really feel your energy and excitement. Started Yoga two years ago then stopped but would love to start again.
You can start back at anytime!!! We hope you do – Yoga is such a peaceful and calming practice.
My husband and I have just recently started doing yoga together. We love it!!
That is so lovely! We love couples yoga 🙂
Love finding balance and finding gratitude for everything in life. Yoga is a great outlet to achieve those goals…and its fun!
I’ve only done yoga once or twice. But, after becoming pregnant for a second time, I’m doing it a bit more to help with sore back muscles!
We’ve heard so many wonderful things about prenatal yoga! Check to see if any studios near you offer the practice.
I love that you call the instructors dolls! It looks like you’ve got an edge above the competition. I wish you the best of luck!
I love incorporating yoga into my workout schedule. Bikram is my favorite style though.
Hi Mandy, Agreed! We love incorporating yoga into a broader workout routine. Bikram is lovely – we enjoy any heated practice that helps open up our muscles more so we can flow!
Congratulations. I bet your classes are great. Too bad I don’t live very close or I would definitely sign up.
I think yoga may help my running and benefit my whole being. I wish I lived close enough to take a class with you two! Love the tips too
Yoga and running are very complementary! It will improve your practice tremendously. XO
I’ve heard that yoga has a wealth of benefits. This is why I’d love take a yoga class someday soon!
Yoga is so fulfilling – take a class and let us know what you think! XOXO
I was doing yoga regularly before our last move and it is incredible how relaxing and centering it is. Focusing on breathing and holding those poses forces everything else out of your mind so it was a great way to round out my week! Congrats on your new studio – that is so exciting!
Congratulations!! All the best in your new venture! Yoga is my sanity and my body thanks me for it every time! 😉
Totally agree, Roxanne! We bend so we don’t break ☯
Such great fun photos! Love the backdrop.
I’ve always meant to try yoga but never have – I really do need to!
I haven’t done yoga in years. I need to get right back to it! I love it!
Omg I just love yoga! I was obsessed pre-mommy days. I so need to get back into it!!
Looks like some great classes to try. Wish I lived closer because I’m really trying to get back to a regular yoga schedule. (Love the street art too)!
Thanks, Kirsten! Give us a call if you’re ever in Chicago 🙂
I love the idea of doing yoga but I’ve never had luck doing it. I really need to give it a try again.
That’s awesome! Congratulations on the certification! I’m sure you’ll be great teachers. Yoga is an awesome exercise and it’s perfect for people who would like a little meditation while you get fit.
Wow! I wish I can do that too! Congratulations and good luck on your new journey!
Thanks, Nicole! XO
I need to really try Yoga! I took a few classes in college and loved it. I want to get into it.
Yoga is amazing. I use my practice every morning to set my intentions for the day. I will be visiting Chicago later this fall and will definitey check out your classes!
I love yoga! I usually do it from the comfort of my living room. I haven’t thought to seek out a studio, and I’m pretty rural, so I’m not even sure one is available!
this is so very exciting! I wish you both the best of luck! x, kenz http://sincerelykenz.com
I love yoga! We’ve been moving and staying in temporary lodging for two months now and I’ve greatly missed the balance yoga provides. Looking forward to making it a regular part of my routine again real soon!
