Lab Testing for Covid-19 Antibodies

May 8, 2020

The COVID 19 Antibody Test is now here, and the Dolls are sharing how you can order the test to know if you have been exposed to the virus. This is the first step to do your part in healing the world.

The knowledge around the COVID 19 Antibody Test is truly power. Once more and more people start testing, the CDC will get a better handle on just how fast this virus spread. It will also help shed light on why some people are A symptomatic, while others have lost their lives.

The test is now available through DHA Laboratory. You can order your test here: https://www.dhalab.com/Dolls

The process:

  1. Order testing from DHA website
  2. They will send you detailed instructions on the thousands of lab testing locations
  3. You don’t need to fast for this test
  4. Head to your nearest testing facility (Such an easy blood draw: It’s one small tube)
  5. Wait for 72 hours for your results
  6. DHA also offers options for result interpretations if you need further assistance.

Covid – 19 antibody testing, is also known as serology testing. It checks for a type of antibody referred to as immunoglobulin G, IgG. After exposure to the Covid-19 virus, your body produces IgG antibodies as part of your immune response. This testing will not give you positive or negative results for the virus but if you think you have experienced Covid – 19 but did not have accessibility to testing, this test will confirm if you have been exposed. This test is not for anyone who is currently experiencing symptoms.

Our goal at Once Upon a Dollhouse is to always support small and local businesses when we can. So, here’s your chance to order testing for yourself and share this information with your loved ones while supporting small business. This test can be ordered directly through the DHA website. This Laboratory is located in Mount Prospect, IL. We trust this laboratory 100% – and you can too – knowing that it’s owned and operated by Dani’s family.

We got our test results back within 72 hours and both tested negative.

The cost: $109 – If you have health insurance you can submit your receipt for reimbursement.

Words of advice: Anyone who tells you this test should be free or only cost $10 is sort of giving you the run around… We did more research and found out: yes, there is a way to pay a $10 co-pay and bill the remainder to your insurance but the cost of the testing will be well over $109. In our opinion paying $109 upfront and submitting for reimbursement to your insurance is a more safe option, rather than not knowing how much will be billed after the $10 co-pay.

*This is a partner post with DHA Laboratory. As always, all doll-pinions are our own. Caitlin + Dani are wearing Quarantine Couture hoodies by one of our favorite local designers, Eda and Betty.

As my cousin shared (he is a doctor) the process of test, it is too difficult for patient as well as doctor. Thanks for sharing this about the DHA Laboratory and test services availability.

Knowledge is power as you said and i wish everybody could test both for covid-19 and for antibody testing! Hopefully this situation will soon become a terrible nightmare.

I think this is the only way we can truly understand how this virus works, spreads, and infects. But, it really needs to be covered off the bat. Given the financial circumstances of the world right now, I don’t see many spending $100 a pop for each person to test. For my family, that would a total of $600. Totally not within our budget reach. Hoping they can change the cost factor soon.
