Throughout a lifetime, Dolls can fall in and out of relationships that serve different purposes along our journey. These relationships can be with acquaintances, friends, a boyfriend/girlfriend, family, pets and even ourselves. Sometimes life surprises you with a relationship that you fall into and it keeps growing. Other times, you have an established relationship that needs some extra attention. When you care about each other (even if you are in different points in your life) – you put in the time, the effort and the love into your friendship. This is the art of being best friends.
That’s how we describe our friendship — we both wholeheartedly trust ourselves, our journey and each other. There’s no relationship quite like the soul sister connection. It’s patient, it’s kind and when it feels like the world is conspiring in your favor or against you, your soul sisters support you either way and reminds you that:
you are what is beautiful in this world.”

In Honor of National Best Friends Day, we’re answering some of our most frequently asked questions!
How did you meet?
We met over four years ago at a Fire and Ice party at the Vertigo Sky Lounge (Now Apogee) located at the Dana Hotel. This is symbolic to our friendship because we have a yin yang connection. Caitlin represents ice – calm, cooling and peaceful while Dani represents fire – strong, hot and feisty. At the time, Caitlin was managing the PR + Marketing for the event and Dani was a guest of their mutual best friend, Ashley (she represents earth – She keeps us grounded). We met on the rooftop at the event and connected quickly. One year after meeting we went back to the Fire and Ice party to celebrate our friends-iversary.
Do you live together?
We became fast friends! Soon enough, we moved in together as roommates. Our spot was coined the Dollhouse and became the meeting place for our squad before every concert, dinner celebration, holiday party or night out dancing — Our actual apartment looked like a Dollhouse. Caitlin’s furniture which was passed down from her Grandmother included pink marble tables and vintage style couches reupholstered with bright pink and orange ikat fabrics. That is where we started Once Upon a Dollhouse. Currently, we do not live together. Caitlin has since gotten married – her and her husband Zach just bought their first home together out in burbs! Dani is dating and lives in West Town. Even though we don’t live together anymore, we talk to each other all day every day and are known to have sleepovers. One day we have a dream of owning a vacation Dollhouse together.
What do you do full time?
We both have backgrounds in media – Caitlin worked at Public Relations agency for ten years prior to our launch and Danielle was an on air news reporter. We are now full-time bloggers for Once Upon a Dollhouse and run its sister company Dollhouse Social – a full service Social Media Marketing and Events company. We manage Social Media platforms for other businesses, host events, create content, design influencer programs and manage digital ad campaigns for all different types of companies. When we started OUDH we knew we had to go “all in” if we wanted to make our dreams a reality.
What made you start OUDH?
After becoming roommates, we realized that although we are different on the yin/yang spectrum we believes in the same morals and values. When we would get dressed to stay in or go out we would tend to wear matching looks without ever planning it… People started asking us about our clothes, workout routines, diets and overall lifestyles. It was a no-brainer to write it all down… And just like that our blog was born.
How old are you?
Danielle just turned 33 on April 20th and Caitlin is 32 until Sept 3rd. We had a blast celebrating Danielle’s birthday at Ocean Prime this year.
How tall are you?
Caitlin is 5’2 and Dani is 5’0 — Yes, we look a lot taller in our photos and shorter in “real” life. At least that’s what people tell us!
Do you ever fight?
In our entire four year friendship we have fought one time, and to be honest… it was horrible! We were moving to different places in our life, and there were some growing pains. We both decided this was not for us. Instead of growing apart, we decided to lift each other up. To be happy for one another, and to be there for one another in times of need.
We do much better staying united and having constructive conversations about the way we are feeling. Our relationship is unique because we trust each other and only ever want what is best for the other.
Fun Fact: Caitlin was named after her Great-Grandmother Catherine & Danielle’s middle name is from her Great-Grandmother Catherine.
Fun Fact: Both of us are still in contact with our best friends from preschool and they are both named Megan.
Fun Fact: We went to yoga school together at Yoga Loft on Hubbard street and completed our RYT 200 yoga certification. When we can carve out the time we both teach
When will you stop doing OUDH?
I’m not sure we can stop, it’s our passion — We see the blog joining us through all of our adventures in this life. No matter how far apart or near we are, no matter what happens, we will always share here. We plan to keep holding hands and smiling into the camera well into our 90’s. Meeting your soul sister is a prize from the universe for always trying to do what is right and staying positive.

This is such a fun post. It makes me miss my bestie. We live in different places but talk all the time. We have been friends since the 5th grade. It’s nice when you meet someone you just connect with instantly.

I think I`m the only person that don`t have best friend. I was always alone , had friends but that was never IT. And since I moved in other country I lost touch with almost everyone. Anyways congrats to you and your friend and you both looks so lovely!

This was an awesome post! You and your best friend have a great friendship! I have several best friends that I have this kind of friendship with. I have had my best friends since college (2006). They say if you have been friends with someone for 7+ years then they are your friend for life. I have found that to be true. Back to you, you both are beautiful, here’s to many, many more years of friendship for you all.
