Alone in the Forest

January 27, 2016

As the gates opened into an enchanted woodland abyss, our jaws dropped and we instantly knew adventure awaited.  During the day fairies frolic about, illuminated trees glow with varying colors, acrobatics perform all around, you may even see a live marching band….  At night the forest is cleared of all festival goers. Except for three Dolls. We were alone inside the gates of Electric Forest… a forbidden playground at our fingertips.

How did we get here?

There are many different ways to release stress in this life. For these Dolls, this release is complemented by a reconnection to our true selves through music, dancing and embracing friendships in the warm summer sun. And – we just love to dance.

There’s a magical music festival that takes place every summer in Rothbury, Michigan called Electric Forest. It’s something to look forward to every year. In fact, this was Caitlin’s fourth year running and she told her sparkle soul sister Danielle that attendance was mandatory. Without any experience actually camping (true story), the Peacock Princess obliged per their prior agreement in The Summer of Yes.

After a whole day of live music and shaking our tail feathers – first mind-blow occurred. String. Cheese. Incident.

We then headed to see Gramatik where we noticed a large platform no one was standing on. D looked at C and queried, “May I present you with a stage to dance upon?” We climbed up on the stage and threw our hands up, twirled, soaked in the good vibes all around.

At this point we were joined by another Goddess, Annie.

After the show, we found ourselves in VIP. We simply walked in and wasted no time before enjoying ourselves.

VIP areas at concerts and festivals are a funny thing… They are filled with the best of everything festival life has to offer. The biggest RV’s, the best parties with the best party favors and surprise shows by some of the biggest names in music.

Besides the amazing things that come along with VIP areas there comes the funny part… guys who think you’re going to sleep with them because they are in VIP and you are in GA.

As the clock struck 3am the Doll crew bid farewell to VIP and all the friends they came across inside.

Guy A (who shall remain nameless), inquired why they were leaving to GA when they seemed to be “hitting it off so well” and could both just snuggle up in his tent. The Dolls looked at each other knowingly and Dani let him have it.

“We’re going back to GA because that’s where we sleep. It’s also where we get dressed in the morning and guess what… we put on our pants one leg at a time.”

We then left Guy A speechless and floated away to the exit. There stood guards at the exit, whom again didn’t understand why the Dolls wanted to head back to GA as he accused,

“How did you get into VIP in the first place? You snuck in here, didn’t you?”

A mischevious smile spread across D’s face as she replied,

“Oh…. We snuck in and caused we caused a ruckus.”

The guard looked both dolls in the eyes an was utterly impressed. He put his hands out to shake ours and said,

“Hi, I’m Dave. You may enter the forest.”

Little did we know the adventure that was before us…

40-THOUSAND PEOPLE attend the forest each year the art instillations are always packed and somehow the dolls found themselves alone with all the magic the forest has to offer, to experience the forest as if it was set up just for them.

We spent the next few hours going to and from each exhibit, really getting the chance to absorb everything.

Every so often a golf cart with festival guards would drive by and we acted like any spy-movie-goddess would… ducking behind trees and rolling from hideout to hideout for fear of being caught and our private tour coming to an end.

We finally made it back to GA as the sun came up.  We are forever grateful to the universe for the unique Forest experiences bestowed upon us!

This looks like SO much fun!! And the music sounds great too. I love the magic that comes with having an electronic music festival in the forest. I went to a festival called Strawberry Fields in Australia a couple of summers ago in the middle of the Australian bush and it was definitely an adventure.
